Stock trading software review
I prepared this page with a review of the stock trading software I use or I used in the past. I divide stock market trading software into these categories: - Stock analysis software
- Stock trading software
- Stock market screener
A lot of software products offer more features and can fall into more than one of the categories I described above. You have to decide what you need and then check several different software packages to find the best stock trading software package for you.
Stock analysis software
This software helps traders to do technical analysis of stock charts. Users can apply different technical indicators. A good analysis program should also offer back testing features for testing of (automated) trading systems.
I personally use
AmiBroker
as my main stock
technical analysis software.
It’s also possible to use some Web sites that offer browser-based stock chart analysis.
Stock trading software
This type of software is provided by the broker. It offers trading functionality like watching real-time quotes, entering orders, managing orders, managing portfolios, managing real-time watch lists and so on.
I personally use these two stock trading software packages: -
Peak Access
- my
broker’s
stock trading software. I manage orders and my open positions through it.
-
QuoteTracker
- this is a very nice free stock trading software.
I prefer
direct access trading platforms
. Online Web-based platforms are not a good choice for short-term trading.
Stock market screener
This is a very special type of software. It allows you to find stocks that fulfill predefined criteria. It’s a very powerful tool because it helps to speed up the stock-picking process.
AmiBroker has a very nice feature that allows you to define and use a lot of
free stock screeners
. Here are free
stock screener examples
I use for one of my stock trading strategies.
